In January 2018, Dave and I purchased 100 New Salem St. in Laconia as the new home of Isaiah 61 Café. We, along with several volunteers, provide continental breakfast and lunch daily Mon-Fri. Our friends are able to take showers, do laundry, store belongings in lockers and rest in a peaceful atmosphere, filled with worship music, prayer, video Bible studies and fellowship. Since the start of this ministry, we have had several friends go through rehabilitation for both drug and alcohol addictions, as well as 35 salvations and 3 baptisms and counting. We look forward to how God will continue to revive Laconia and make our friends into "oaks of righteousness" breaking every chain of addiction surrounding them.
Isaiah 61:1-4 reads, "The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor; He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound; to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all who mourn; to grant to those who mourn in Zion— to give them a beautiful headdress instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, the garment of praise instead of a faint spirit; that they may be called oaks of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that he may be glorified. They shall build up the ancient ruins; they shall raise up the former devastations; they shall repair the ruined cities, the devastations of many generations."
"For when you saw me hungry, you fed me. When you found me thirsty, you gave me something to drink. When I had no place to stay, you invited me in, and when I was poorly clothed, you covered me. When I was sick, you tenderly cared for me, and when I was in prison you visited me.... And the King will answer them, 'Don’t you know? When you cared for one of the least important of these my little ones, my true brothers and sisters, you demonstrated love for me.'" -Matthew 25:35-36,40 (TPT)
